I love ordering from stl, I’ve never had a problem with them. And this wood ocarina is wonderful. I bring it camping with me and i am a Zelda fan and I love feeling like I’m in the lost woods

    Excellent addition to my collection

Good ocarina, lightweight, good tone. Breath curve isn't quite as linear as some of my other ocarinas, being a little difficult on the lower notes, but that smooths out pretty quickly with practice. Breath requirement is overall pretty light, and even on the high notes I can play for a good while. Volume is reasonable, a little quieter than my ceramics but still very audible. Tone is very warm and a little breathy, well suited to folk music in my opinion. Ergonomics are good, not the best I've played with but very comfortable, especially when considering the weight.

Beautiful Show Piece & Very Playable

I bought this for the looks and am keeping it for the quality. It really does sound softer than a typical ocarina, but really holds its own.

Nice Aesthetic, Good Tone, Good Beginner Ocarina

Purchased this instrument entirely on a whim simply because it looked nice in the pictures. I am pleased to say that not only does it look nice in person, but it also is a nice ocarina to play.

Ergonomically, this is one of the most comfortable ocarinas I own. The mouthpiece is angled perfectly and the grip angle is comfortable. The finish on the wood is smooth enough that my fingers slide over the holes easily but not so smooth as to be a dropping hazard. I love that it manages to look unique while avoiding design ornamentation or sticky glaze that would hinder finger movement.

The tone of the ocarina is a little rougher or reedier than some of my other ocarinas. I'd likely be able to distinguish its tone from, say, my 11-hole Alto C from Pure Ocarina, which has a smoother, rounder sound. That said, it isn't the same kind of cheap roughness that a generic Amazon ocarina would make. If anything, I'd call it a wood-textured tone, if that makes sense--presenting the hauntingly round tone you would expect from an ocarina, but with a kind of rustic flair. Basically, it sounds like what your mind automatically expects from a wooden ocarina.

The breath curve is very smooth and much lower than I was expecting for a twelve-hole, especially compared to something like the Night by Noble. The two subholes do necessarily result in a slightly airy upper E and F, but, again, way less than my experience with an NbN. An acute bend completely eliminate any airiness at the upper ranges.

Slightly related, but the wooden airway does not absorb moisture as well as a porcelain ocarina would, though it does better than a plastic. This has resulted in a couple surprises where I shot for a high E only to find the hollow whistle of a clogged airway. It's not a problem, but just a little different from other ocarinas I own.

Also, random point, but there is a faint woody taste to the mouthpiece if you inhale, and I absolute love it. It tastes like how I imagine the wardrobe from Chronicals of Narnia smells.

Altogether, despite having only bought this ocarina on an impulse, I am incredibly impressed with it. I would feel perfectly comfortable recommending it to someone looking for a beginner or mid-range instrument who didn't want something plastic and break the bank.
