12 Hole Zelda Mini Ocarina
Our newest ocarina for Zelda fans!
This brand new 12-hole soprano ocarina is only about 2.75 inches wide and 2 inches long, accurately tuned in the key of C Major, with a pitch range of more than an octave and half (13 notes). It also has the capability of performing sharps and flats. It comes with an online instructional booklet, as well as a strap, so you can wear this ocarina on your neck wherever you go.
Excellent quality, but for someone with biggish hands, this mini ocarina is tricky to hold. However, it is still fun to carry around and play :-)J
I bought this Ocarina at Anime Expo 2015, and I gotta say, even being my very first Ocarina, this thing is awesome. I do have previous music experience with violin and some piano, so I had a relatively easy time learning it. I have yet to master it, though, so I continue to practice and learn new songs, fast or slow, and especially to my piano recordings. :) Even with my semi-large hands, I don't really find myself having trouble getting the notes.
I'm an art teacher, and whenever I go wearing this around my neck, the students (all kids) think it's a submarine necklace and they wonder if it's even real when I tell them it's an ocarina flute. It's kind of funny.
All in all, this ocarina is probably one of the most adorable things I own, and I will definitely buy again. In fact, I just ordered a Harmony Ivy Ocarina and I eagerly await its arrival. ;DD
So I am an experienced player and this was my 12th ocarina which I bought 2 years ago. Nothing has changed so my review is still valid . The tuning is ok but could be improved . So , I have small hands , and this ocarina is WAY too tiny for me , making it difficult to play . Also the design on this ocarina is poor and mine didn't write stl on the side like it's supposed to. Shipping took 40 days but I live in Greece so that is tolerable. The quality is not the best but this design wasn't updated since it came out (a long long time ago ) . I'm expecting more to come from stl ( an incredible company , nevertheless) but this is just out of date.M
This is among the ocarinas I purchased at Anime Expo 2014. Honestly, I really only bought this because it was cheap and I really wanted an OOT replica without paying out the nose for one. To my suprise this became one of the most responsive, on-pitch I own today. I figured that, because it is small, that the note differentiation on this thing would be sub-par. The opposite is actually true! Getting used to the small finger space takes a little while. I constantly found myself missing the pinkie hole on my right hand. I suppose you can't really blame them though. The one thing I really did not like was that the neck strap that came with it was really scratchy and abrasive. I think they were selling them for $15 at AX, and $20 online. I have to tell you, for the quality of this piece it is a steal! Though I have to say, if you are thinking about getting this one for your first ocarina, I would recommendM
sorry, accidentally clicked submit before I was finished. Anyway, if you are thinking about getting this as your first ocarina, I would suggest getting a 6-hole first. It might be a little less intimidating for you, so it is more likely that you will stick with it.
