Element Ocarina: Shadow in C Major (Bass)
“I thought the most beautiful thing in the world must be a shadow.” Sylvia Plath, The Bell Jar
The Shadow; that which is subtle, almost ethereal, which shyly suggests the substantive nature of the elements, or provides an intermediary between the here and now and the world of dreams. The Shadow Ocarina, meticulously handcrafted as part of a set, allows you to explore this bridge between worlds through self- expression. It invites you to tap into the dream world through the intermediary of music producing deep, resonant notes. It allows you to lose yourself in a dimension of creativity and self-expression while living in the moment.
The Shadow ocarina has been accurately tuned in the key of Bass C Major with a pitch range from A3 to F5. From its ethereal, evocative design to its impressive range and sound, this ocarina is true joy to play. An online instructional booklet is included with all of our ocarinas.

I’m not a professional nor do I have the greatest ear however I can say this instrument is high quality. To me it sounds soft (compared to the few Ocarinas I’ve tried) with a lovely quiet tone. However I find you need to blow VERY soft for the low A to come out. Overall a lovely instrument!L
By far my favorite in my modest ocarina collection! Super mellow tone, & the weight isn't bad for how big it is.L
My parents gifted me this ocarina. My mom (Leslie) forwarded the review form to me because I'm the one who plays it. (My name is Shannon O'Brien.)
I had recently purchased a 12 hole Ocarina of Time and the 6 hole Green Rupee as part of a set. My dad noticed my coveting the Shadow ocarina while I was watching the STL YouTube videos featuring it. He listened along and we were both impressed with the sound of the Shadow ocarina.
I checked my Shadow ocarina with the Soundcorset Tuner app and I'm able to hit all the notes I'm supposed to be able to easily. The notes, especially the low notes, are hauntingly deep and beautiful. However, they all sound airy compared with the videos, especially the high notes. I tried my best to hit the notes nicely so I could review it accurately, but I am a beginner after all. I imagine this airiness will get better with practice, but even if it doesn't it still sounds lovely.
Being an average sized woman, perhaps a little short and I guess with smallish hands, completely covering the holes and properly holding the Shadow ocarina is a challenge. By contrast, my dad, who is a big man, finds the Shadow ocarina much easier to manipulate than my 12 hole Ocarina of Time.
My hands and fingers are still getting accustomed to the heaviness of the Shadow, and I can only practice on that one for short periods. If you're like me, and you get one of these, be patient with this. If you're a big person, and you've had trouble with fingering on smaller ocarinas or just find that uncomfortable, you might want to try this one or one of the other bass ocarinas.
Also, the paint job on my Shadow ocarina is lovely. I consider this as much an art piece as it is an instrument and display it proudly.
P.s. there are some unforseen benefits to owning a lower octave ocarina. For one thing my mom has tinnitus and the Shadow seems so far to be safer to play around her. My dog reacts more favorably as well. Also, I have sound-sensitive migraines at times. I've had the experience of Advil-diminished migraine symptoms where I could stand the sound of the Shadow ocarina but not that of my higher octave ocarinas. If you have issues like this in your family or have concerns about neighbors you might want to consider these lower pitched ocarinas.M
Beautiful resonant sound! Such fun to play! Look forward to advancing my technique with this instrument.M
I love this Ocarina, it sounds amazing. My only complaint is the paint job looks sloppy, it's not nearly as cool looking as I though it would be with the drip pattern. Mine looks like a kid painted it.
