12 Hole C Major Bass Ocarina "Passacaglia"
We are proud to show off the first 12-hole bass ocarina designed by us!
The Passacaglia ocarina offers deep sound that's perfect for an ensemble or for those that prefer an ocarina with lower pitches. This 12-hole ocarina is made from high-grade ceramic and features a longer mouth piece that makes playing this ocarina a dream.
The 12-hole Passacaglia ocarina measures 10 inches long and has been perfectly tuned in C Major with a pitch range of 13 notes and the capability of performing sharps and flats. Like all of our ocarinas, it's been tuned by professional musicians. We've included an online instructional booklet, as well as a songbook, Songs by John Dowland.
Have a different songbook in mind? Leave a note in the comment section when you check out and we'll happily switch them for you.

This ocarina plays like a dream. I am an intermediate student, able to play full chromatic scale and both Major & minor variants of Bb, B, C, D, Eb, E, F, G & A scales. The ocarina I was previously using was the "tenor" strawfire sold on Amazon. The holes on this Passacaglia are significatly wider, with finger-shaped depressions around them, which gives me a better seal and helps with intonation. The weight however was a surprise: it is VERY heavy. it feels like it is made from solid metal believe it or not. Learning to balance this beast on my thumbs for notes like high F was a challenge. Also my fingers get fatigued much more quickly from having to hold up its considerable weight.
However, all of this is made worth it by the amazing, clear, warm mellow tone. One upside is the rough stony texture makes it much easier to hold without dropping. The sound is gorgeous. The intonation is great. A beautiful instrument.J
I'm enjoying it. The deeper sound is easier on everyone's ears when playing it in close spaces. It sounds better when you don't make the "tu tu tu" mouth movements, because you can hear the hard "t". It fits my fingers much better than the smaller ocarinas. I enjoy it a lot!L
I just wanted to say that I really appreciate all of Kera’s help in picking out and purchasing an ocarina. She made measurements and sent me pictures, and if she didn’t have an answer for my multitude of questions, she researched until she could tell me what I needed to know. I am so happy with my purchase thanks to her help. :)J
A bit heavy, and definitely takes a ton of breath so be prepared for that if you have never played a bass ocarina before!
Texture is very grippy, which is very nice considering the size! Something to note is the texture CAN and WILL scratch surfaces! I accidentally brushed my computer monitor lightly and it left a deep scratch in it, so something to be careful of!
Breath can be a bit tricky to get down, and will sound very airy until you get it right (ESPECIALLY the higher notes), but will sound beautiful once you get it right. Overall very pleased with my purchase!S
Love it. Really deep smooth tone. It has a sandpaper texture to it so it is impossible to drop. Very ergonomic despite its large size. Very good bass for a very good price
